The last documentary work of French filmmaker and producer Albert Lamorisse is themed on natural attractions of Iran with a sad ending for the director in real life.

‘The Lovers’ Wind’ kicked off shooting in 1970 and had a dramatic story behind-the-scenes for the French director Lamorisse who died in a helicopter crash while filming the doc. His son and wife completed the film, based on his production notes, and released it a few years later. It was also nominated for an Oscar for best documentary.

Lamorisse's best-known work is the short film ‘The Red Balloon’  which earned him the Palme d'Or Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, and an Oscar for writing the Best Original Screenplay in 1956.

In 2019, a restored copy of ‘The Lovers’ Wind’ was screened at the Art and Experience Cinema halls in Tehran, Shiraz and Isfahan. The 34th Fajr International Film Festival also reviewed the restored version in the Preserved Classics section.
